Love on the Lake - Our Feature in Inside Weddings Magazine

"I promise to kiss you first thing each morning and last thing each evening, so long as we both shall live."

Oh! To be in that backyard on the lake, witnessing these childhood sweethearts tenderly repeat these vows, through their tears and laughter, together.  It was a truly humbling experience for us.   We feel so lucky to have been chosen to be the team that had an opportunity to create a wedding film for Kellye and Dustin.   From the story of how she waited as a little girl on the edge of the lawn to see Dustin go by, all the way to her father's description of every moment with Kellye in his life being "like Christmas morning," their love story will inspire you to cherish your own family with such tenderness.

Their beautiful story  is being featured in Inside Weddings Magazine, on newsstands this week.  You have got to check it out!  We love that the magazine recognized the incredibly romantic and lasting qualities of Kellye & Dustin's love story in addition to Tara Wilson's beautiful design and coordination.  Their article is truly worth reading!

Featured by Glamour and Grace || Romantic, Vintage Wedding at Maison Montegut

Designing her wedding reception to "feel like coming home" to her mother's house, Mary made sure to select decor details that spoke to her heart.  All the crystal, lace, silver, mercury glass, and family photos were brought in by her mother for this truly romantic event at Maison Montegut.  We are excited to announce that our film has been featured alongside the  work of their  fantastic New Orleans photographer, Mark Eric, in the blog for brides who love vintage and handmade details, Glamour and Grace.

We are excited to announce that we were recently featured on love24FPS, a leading style blog that features the best of wedding filmmaking in the industry.

The story the editors selected to feature was the sneak peek we put together to introduce Kacy & Jason's film.  Of course, they were as smitten by Kacy & Jason's personalities as we were, and they gushed about it in their coverage of the film, saying,  "it’s hard to take your eyes off the screen because you know this couple is going to be worth watching."

...and we agree!  When we first heard from Jason about filming his wedding to Kacy, we were enamored with their passion for our craft and for one another.  This bold groom held our attention with stories about his proposal in a hot air balloon, how zebras would be wandering the grounds at their wedding reception, how he drives a Tesla, works for the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and with stories of how much he loves his bride, Kacy.

You can read our full post about their wedding and watch their wedding video in its entirety here.

CanonFilmmakers Live - An Educational Jaunt

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/21764021[/vimeo]

Famed British Cinematographer/Educator Philip Bloom issuing the charge.

Since I spend a lot of my potential educational time planning and organizing an international educational event for filmmakers, it's rare that I get to sit back and enjoy being educated myself.

Recently, I was able to attend CanonFilmmakersLive at the Alamo Drafthouse Theater in Austin, Texas.  CanonFilmmakersLive is a full day excursion into how to best use DSLR technology to do filmmaking work for whatever purpose you might need it.

I've been using DSLR's for about 18 months now, but this was the first time I was able to get schooled on some things that would've taken much longer to discover through trial and error.  For example, I picked up tips on the best ISO's to use, the proper white balance settings for overnight timelapses, an insurance company to employ for equipment coverage, a software program to rescue data from faulty CF cards, and much much more.

There are hundreds if not thousands of decisions to make in operating cameras/running a business to produce work for clients, and being unaware and unprepared in one area can create a life or death (for the project) situation.  It's much more than knowing how to shoot well, and you'll pick up enough small  tips to more than make up for the cost of admission.

I was also impressed with the networking that I was able to do.  Attendees come from all walks to life seeking the same thing, to improve their craft.  Some were on the media team from their churches, some work in schools, others shoot music videos - the man to my right was looking how to best make promotional videos for his company which sells and installs acquariums.  With such a diverse audience, I was able to connect with new colleagues who have strengths that complement mine.  You can expect us to be collaborating on future projects together (and I didn't even have to do a craigslist search!)

If you have a chance to attend in one of the remaining cities, I encourage to spend the day investing in your business with the CanonFilmmakers.

My hats off to my colleagues Cristina Valdivieso and Jon Connor for their hard work in putting together this magnificent tour, and to Philip Bloom for sharing his knowledge in order to help others to get further faster (and for being a good sport as well, even when, to his chagrin, I won the Zacuto Z(ed)Grip iPhone Jr.).
