St. Mark's Episcopal Church | "Luckiest Man Alive" - Annlyn & D.A.

Annlyn & D.A. had a beautiful spring outdoor reception at The Argyle club--at the ocean-inspired reception party, guests were treated to a diverse buffet that include a shrimp bar, sushi bar, and taco bar.  The flower girls and ring bearer ran from place to place enjoying the discovery of the different ice sculptures scattered throughout the party--including a mermaid and a dolphin.  As if that weren't enough, Cheesy Janes (http://cheesyjanes.com) food truck showed up to feed the party crowd some late night sliders. Yum, oh! We left the party so energized, because the band plowed through hit after hit, switching members in and out so that they played continuously without a break, keeping the party going all night long.

Earlier in the day, we met up with Annylyn as she arrived at the ceremony site, St. Mark's Episcopal Church. St. Mark's is a beautiful building, filled with history. Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson were married there!

Outside the gorgeous stone cathedral, family calmly gathered to begin taking photographs before the wedding ceremony.   The bridesmaids floated in Grecian blue gowns and the ring bearers had their checkered bow-ties straightened.   The stone and stained-glass building towered over the group, but the day seemed to have no shadows as Annlyn and D.A. prepared for their first look before the ceremony.

(Tradition tip: a "first look" is a modern tradition that allows the bride and groom to see each other about an hour before the wedding ceremony in a private setting. This allows them to see each other without distraction, to exchange private words, to get out any jitters, and to take their portraits before the ceremony so that they can head straight to their party afterwards.)

D.A. was completely smitten when he saw Annlyn for the first time in her wedding dress.  Every few seconds he stopped to tell her how beautiful she looked, and before their portraits were done, he had declared himself to be "the luckiest man alive."

Here are a few still-frames from the wedding video we are putting together for this amazing bride and groom:

Christmas Wedding at The Roosevelt || It Feels Like Coming Home || Mary + Aaron, the full film

"When we decided not to have our wedding at my mother's home, I knew that where-ever we had it, it had to feel like being at home." Mary told me this in the brief minutes we spent in the courtyard just before she and Aaron entered the Montegut house for their first dance. As you watch the film, you'll see exactly what she and Elyse Skanski (Tying the Knot Wedding Coordination) were able to create within the walls of the Montegut House---her family had brought their own heirloom crystal, milkglass vases, and mercury glass votives to adorn all of the tables and fireplace mantles.  The vintage cake topper had even belonged to Mary's grandfather.  You can read more about that in our first post about Mary & Aaron's vintage home-style wedding.

Enjoy their full film below.  Mary's personal touches and gifts for her groom and family will have you misty-eyed in minutes, I promise!  Plus, every location seems like a scene out of Downton Abbey, between the historic venue locations and the classic Victorian outfits worn by the bridesmaids and ring bearers.

In every wedding we film, we try to capture the spirit of the city where the wedding is taking place as well as the event itself.  From the performing street bands to the Second Line parade that led the party away from the Montegut House, New Orleans charmed us once again.

I should also mention that not only do we adore filming in New Orleans, but we also love December weddings.  In the south, the air is finally a little crisp, but rarely is it ever bitter at that point in winter, and holiday decorations are in full swing.  When we walked into the Roosevelt Hotel in downtown New Orleans, the entire first floor and all of its corridors were like a winter wonderland--lit up with thousands of christmas lights, and trees everywhere--we almost couldn't see the walls, it was so lovely!  There were some happy families there bustling about with their children in holiday outfits and red velvet dresses taking pictures.  With that cheery scene, we headed upstairs to the room where Mary was getting ready.

Mary wore a strapless lace wedding gown with a cathedral length veil and a very unique bolero jacket that actually included her train.

Mary is quiet, sweet, and funny--and her sense of classical taste led her to select a very unique approach to her wedding gown.  She wore a lovely fitted lace bolero with an off-shoulder ncckline and  quarter-length sleeves.  While it was fitted perfectly at her waist in front, the back of it buttoned down to a long train, giving her a stunning, full- length dress for the ceremony and a perfect and easy dress length for the reception without the worry of bustling the dress.

Stunning, right?  Mark was wonderful to work with--he's a real team player, friendly, and hard-working, too.  Plus, he's super talented--grabbing amazing shots that really tell the emotion of the moment.  I can't decide which of the gallery images from that post are my favorite, but I love the guitar and singing shots, and his great images of the second line band, the Jaywalkers.

The Wild Onion Ranch | The Big Time Band Performs Live

Austin Wedding Wild Onion Ranch Pic 01 reception

Austin, TX - The Wild Onion Ranch - One of Texas' finest locations for a wedding ceremony or reception is The Wild Onion Ranch located on the south side of Austin. This particular clip features a performance from The Big Time Band and the event was designed by Swoop Events, a subsidiary of 2 Dine 4 Catering.

If you're a Texan with a destination wedding in Maui, obviously, you have to celebrate your wedding twice so all your local friends can join in the fun! Texans love to have a good time with their friends, y'all! Anna Kate & Charles did exactly that, and they included all kinds of cute touches in their Texas reception. Flower necklaces, tropical flowers, orchids, hydrangeas, lilies, birds of paradise--it was a gorgeous event.

Anna Kate had us filming in 8mm during their hawaiian adventure wedding, so of course, we filmed some of their Texas party on vintage film, and we also edited it into the digital footage; it has a neat effect on the imagery in the story.  Some people have referred to this combination of super 8mm film and digital HD footage as mixed media format style.  We call it fun. :)   We are always happy to film at The Wild Onion Ranch for parties or events.

Ritz-Carlton New Orleans | Those glasses look good on you - Emily + Kearney, the preview

ritz carlton new orleans wedding video pic 04
ritz carlton new orleans wedding video pic 04

Meet Emily & Kearney, our latest Mason Jar couple. Their wedding was dripping with high-style design and the whole event was lovingly narrated through speeches by their dearest friends and family. Jones traveled to their destination wedding in New Orleans to not only film their wedding day, but also their rehearsal dinner. Filming at the rehearsal dinner allows us to capture all of those stories and toasts that your family can cherish for years to come.

Emily grew up in New Orleans, but she moved to Boston during her teenage years.  NOLA has always remained dear to her family, and so, with joy, their new extended family travelled to New Orleans to enjoy both its charm and the celebration of love.  This short sneak peek of their wedding video features a snippet of a speech by Emily's brother, who had everyone rolling with laughter.

Their wedding celebration was exquisite--a true homecoming for all involved. Emily joined organizational forces with Kearney's mother and they designed an elaborate feast for the rehearsal dinner. We must say that the toasts were equally well-crafted by all the family members, friends, and siblings involved. The Elms Mansion (where the rehearsal dinner was held) is a luxurious and regal location in New Orleans full of southern charm.  A jazz band played both indoors during cocktails and outdoors during dinner.

The father of the groom welcomes his guests to the rehearsal dinner.

Comic timing and tender stories are definitely this family's specialty. While they are the first to mention that they all speak their mind, and speak it loudly, we have to be the first to say that we enjoyed their speeches and as always, we are so thankful to be a witness to the love this family shares.

Here are some screen grabs from the wedding video we are working on for them:

Kearney, the ever-eloquent groom, sent his loving Emily some gifts to open before the wedding. Among a parade of lovely notes and cards, he gave her a necklace he had made from one of his grandmother's rings, saying that although his grandmother had never met Emily, they would have been great friends if she were still alive.

Villa Antonia & Primizie Catering | Cocktail Hour Moments with Alexis & Kevin

You've just watched moments from the cocktail hour of the wedding film of Alexis & Kevin, a couple who chose to have their wedding at the exotic local tuscan estate called Villa Antonia.  As you can see from the video, the setting is both romantic, old world, and very classy.

Alexis is a modern bride with discerning tastes, and so her combination of modern table decor & wedding colors (Pink & navy) paired with southern traditions made for a unique experience.

These eclectic centerpieces were designed by Bouquets of Austin.  I love the way they mixed white with pale pinks and fully saturated fuschias.  Curly willows and long tendrils of flower buds are playful and modern juxtaposed against the old world charm of the wedding venue.

Catering

primizie-classicproduct-175x300
primizie-classicproduct-175x300

The couple chose Primizie as their caterer, which is famous for its authentic use of fresh produce and vegetables to create the most amazing "Austin Italian" cuisine.  Primizie describes itself as a "combination of traditional southern hospitality, old world Italian charm and modern culinary vision." We could see why Alexis would select Primizie for her wedding caterers--she is also a bride commited to southern hospitality (did you see her bridal jewelry--a pearl bracelet & magnolia necklace?), the tuscan architecture at Villa Antonia is definitely old world Italian, and Primizie's modern sensibility fits perfectly with Alexis' modern color choices.   What a perfect match!

If you plan a party in Austin, Primizie does fantastic catering....and for those who are not local, ask your local grocer to begin providing Primizie snacks--their crispbreads will change the way you eat chips and dip.  In fact, I had to grab some from the kitchen as soon as I started writing this post.  Hand-cut, grilled, then crisped--and yes, they are that good!

Villa Antonia is a gorgeous tuscan style wedding or event location.  You can enjoy the breeze from their balconies and terraces while watching the sunset during cocktail hour.  Near Lake Travis, the hillsides provide a breathtaking view that is both serene and majestic.  As guests arrive, they walk beneath a stone arch entryway to view the first courtyard and fountain.  Winding in and around the building is an adventure in and of itself, with fountains and staircases beneath a canopy of trees that overlook a hilly horizon.
