Restaurant Galvez | "Dancin', y'all!"

Following their New Orleans wedding ceremony, and after a fantastic dinner catered by Joel's, Somesha and Olivier's guests were treated to a jazz set by the third brass band of the evening, Treme.  Don't they look spectacular in this 16mm wedding and super 8 wedding clip?

Named for the neighborhood out of which they were conceived, Treme has been a mainstay of the New Orleans music scene for many years with such notables as Kermit Ruffins playing through their ranks.

The guests boogeyed to their hearts' contentment to numerous upbeat jazz renditions, and this filmmaker struggled once again to separate himself from the seductive pull of the dance floor.

Shortly after drummer Lionel Batiste pounded out his last note, the bride and groom escaped into the night unannounced, seeking out more adventure.

Somesha and Olivier, thank you for having me along to create your wedding video.  May your worst day in Paris be no less than your best day in New Orleans.

New Orleans | New Wave Brass Band

2nd Line parades are a New Orleans wedding tradition for many occasions, but especially in leading the bride, groom, and their guests from the ceremony to the reception location.  With hankees and umbrellas, the attendees have authority over all vehicle traffic as they dance their way to food, music, and more dancing!!!

Filming the New Wave Brass Band was absolutely electrifying!  Even when working a gig, there is no way to be surrounded by such musical gusto and not dance for a few measures!

Enjoy this super 8 wedding clip, and dance along!  Stay tuned for more from this wedding video.

New Orleans 16mm Wedding Clip at St. Louis Cathedral

For all the readers easing in from Style Me Pretty, welcome to my blog!  And for those that did not see the Style Me Pretty write up on this New Orleans wedding, look at some of Chris Williams' fantastic photos here

Regarding the super 8 wedding clip and 16mm wedding film above, most of Somesha's final film is scored with songs from the musicians that were featured (live) at her reception, and in this clip, John Boutte sings her and her wedding party down the streets of the French Quarter in a horse drawn carriage to St. Louis Cathedral.

Locals, tourists, and sorority girls alike sent out their well wishes along the route, and guests (as well as a Dixieland jazz band) trumpted Somesha's arrival.

Ahhhhhhh, New Orleans.  You are truly one of a kind.

New Orleans Super 8 Wedding Film Preview at St. Louis Cathedral

My French is a little bit rusty, but let me try.  "Je suis finis!"  Or is it "J'ai finis!"  Either way, C'est ne vrai, but it is almost time to ship Somesha and Olivier's super 8 wedding film to France.

In the meantime, enjoy the preview from this New Orleans wedding!

And to all of their friends in France, to answer the burning question in your mind, "yes, I will travel for you to shoot your wedding video."

Salut!

New Orleans Wedding Video at St. Louis Cathedral - 2nd Line Parade

This past weekend, I documented Somesha and Olivier's New Orleans wedding.  Somesha and Olivier live in Paris, France, but Somesha is originally from New Orleans, so she came home for her wedding.

The guests were a mixture of local family, family and friends from across the country, and an international contingent from France.  There is no language barrier, though, when it comes to New Orleans cooking and jazz music. When the 2nd line band started to blow their horns, leading guests to the reception, the music gave everyone the spirit!

Travel tip - While in New Orleans, stay at the Melrose Mansion between now and Jazzfest and get a great deal!  Ask for a special price on the Miss Kitty room and you can have it for as little as $75/night.  You're two blocks from Bourbon Street and within walking distance of many fabulous restaurants.  I recommend Port of Call, right across the street.

Special thanks to local producer Chad Dyle for coming out to shoot some of the wedding video for me while I handled the super 8 wedding film and 16mm wedding film portions.  I couldn't have done it without ya!

Thank you Somesha and Olivier for bringing me in.  I had a blast.
