Jetted on down to Austin last week for the summer gathering of the Austin Wedding and Event Coordinators (AWEC).
AWEC is a local professional organization that spreads the word about the value added to an event by having a professional coordinator taking care of all the details. They also promote excellence among their ranks and invite other vendors who meet their standards of excellence to become members as well.
This meeting was held at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center with Chef Jonathan of Creative Creations serving up the eco-goodies, Paloma Efron of Coco Paloma contributing the sweets, and Joshua Wilkinson of Penguin Entertainment spinning the vinyl.
The ladies of AWEC go out of their way to inject creativity into their meetings, and this one was full of neatness. The theme was "Good Green Fun," so we ate organics, dressed in 2nd hand bridesmaids/groomsmen outfits, and rode about in petty cabs and on segways.
The highlight of the evening was the fashion show for the most fabulous ancient bridesmaidwear. The video below says it all:
Bill Bastas snapped away while Jennifer Lindberg, Dawn Earley, and many of the The Ladies of Clink sashayed down the runway. But alas, they were no match for Christine Gerlach in her sparkly pink ensemble.
So ladies, those of you on the fence about hiring a coordinator, trust me, they're worth every penny. Spend the money and in return, you will get to be a guest at your own wedding. Put yourself in good hands of your fine friends @ AWEC .
And as you can see above, they're quite a bit of fun as well.
