CINEMATIC HD WEDDING VIDEO
CINEMATIC HD WEDDING VIDEO
As an Austin wedding videographer, I began building my business primarily on filming weddings on actual 8mm film. Later, as technology advanced, we added HD production. Currently, we shoot both High-Definition (HD) wedding videos and 8mm or 16mm films on actual filmstock, and we hope that you can see that no matter what camera is in our hands, we are committed to telling your story. If you’re struggling to choose between the two styles, don’t worry. You don’t have to choose. We can weave both of these formats together to create a “mixed media” wedding film, like the one below.
STYLE & STORY COMBINED
Even though we are primarily known for shooting super 8 wedding films, we began our venture into wedding videography with a different approach, modernly known as Cinematic HD Wedding Video. Videos that fit this label combine both high “art” style with well-told stories. They are not just a series of artsy shots, nor are they a boring, unedited angle. They are well-crafted story-lines with artfully selected visuals.
The first few videos I ever made included a lot of slow motion, plenty of black and white, no ambient sound, and a robust theatrical score. Our wedding films could not be more different than that now. As we focused on our professional style, our work changed significantly. When we walk into a room, we have trained ourselves to search out the story. We don’t come to an event with a premeditated idea of how we will manipulate the emotions of the day to fit the kind of film that we want to make. Instead, we allow who you are to help the film unfold artistically. We choose our lenses, microphone placement, and use of lighting based on the mood and interaction. We research and license music that will fit each couple individually. We tailor each moment in a film to fit the feeling and emotion of what actually happened. When you watch your film, we want you to really remember how your day felt as you experienced it.
It is our job to take the story of your life and tell that story through the viewpoints of the many people who come to celebrate your marriage with you. This is why we include the audio and voices of the many people who are present–the bridesmaids’ words of amazement when they see the dress on the bride for the first time. The hidden moment when a grandmother holds the hand of her husband as they watch the ceremony unfold. The sounds of a father of the bride choking up as he gives his daughter away. The tears of a mother as she hugs her son goodbye at the celebration exit at the end of the wedding.
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILMMAKERS & PHOTOGRAPHERS
Photographers are very supportive of HD wedding video shooters now that we are essentially using the same cameras to do different jobs. We swap lenses during a shoot, a feat that I am unable to do when I am shooting a super 8 wedding video. We talk tech and learn about our equipment from one another, and such collaboration makes the wedding photography and wedding videography all the better. If you are looking for an Austin wedding videographer that shoots cinematic HD wedding videos with the same emotive sense with which they shooting a super8 wedding film, then look no further than Mason Jar Films.
